Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival

weekend in April)

Overview:
Cedar Rapids Independent Filmmakers began with the first Cedar
Rapids Independent Film Festival in 2001. The Festival was
created to provide a venue for Iowa filmmakers to screen their
work for peers and general audiences.
The
organization’s primary goals are to encourage Iowa independent
filmmakers to continue improving their craft, to provide a
place to specifically showcase Iowa-connected films, present
a unique cultural event to the community, and to offer networking
opportunities for the purpose of building the Iowa Filmmaking
Industry.

Entrepreneur's Film Fest
When: Was held April 21
Where: Capitol Theatre, Davenport
Overview:
Film Fest Quad Cities features local entrepreneurs working
in the motion picture industry and will showcase opportunities
for young entrepreneurs to use their creative talents to build
new businesses serving the industry.
The
Film Fest is presented by the Eastern Iowa SBDC and Scott
Community College and takes place at the beginning of Small
Business Week. Events across the country will showcase America's
small businesses and their importance to the nation's economy.
Small Business Week is sponsored by the Small Business Administration
(SBA).

Fairfield 1st Fridays Art Walk Annual Film Festival

Interrobang Film Festival

Overview:
The Des Moines Arts Festival announced the addition of the
Interrobang Film Festival to its 2008 roster of arts-centric
activities. Film submissions for the inaugural Interrobang
Film Festival are now being accepted, due postmarked by May
31. The Interrobang Film Festival will combine a traditional
film production competition with a public screening during
the weekend of the Des Moines Arts Festival. Interrobang’s
vision is to celebrate creativity, while promoting the widest
array of film types possible.

The Iowa Motion Picture Association is a professional organization
formed to promote and enhance the talents and skills of members

Keokuk
Independent Film Festival (K.I.F.F.)

Overview:
The mission of the Keokuk Independent Film Festival is to
provide a meaningful forum in which aspiring independent filmmakers
can showcase their work and share their visions. In addition,
the Keokuk Independent Film festival is dedicated to promoting
Keokuk, Iowa, its businesses, neighborhoods and people; embracing
and enhancing the revitalization efforts of downtown Keokuk
and other emerging areas throughout our city and highlighting
Lee County and the tri-states area as premiere locations for
the production of independent films.

Landlocked Film Festival
When: August 21-24, 2008
Where: Englert Theatre and other venues,
Iowa City
Overview:
The Second Annual Landlocked Film Festival is now part of
the Iowa Arts Festival. Landlocked will have events throughout
the pedestrian mall section of downtown and our showcase cinema
will be none other than the beautifully remodeled, historic
Englert Theatre.
The
competitive festival will include categories for short and
feature-length narratives and documentaries, as well as student,
animation and Spanish-language films and feature-length screenplays.
All categories will be screened by panels of independent expert
judges, and thousands of dollars in cash and equipment prizes
will be awarded.

New Strand Film Festival

The New Strand Film Festival is a festival offered in a historic
art deco theatre in beautiful Eastern Iowa. The West Liberty
Public Library and the New Strand Theatre are the chief sponsors
of the festival.
The New
Strand Film Festival is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy independent
films in a historic theatre without the fuss of a large film
festival.
The mission
is to bring thought provoking and visually unique films to
Iowa and give independent filmmakers an opportunity to interact
with their audience.

Ruby Brothers 2007 Hollowood Film Fair
When: August 9-12, 2007
Where: Festival Park at the Sleepy Hollow
Sports Park, Des Moines
Overview:
This
event takes place in a 60-acre theme park - it will be unlike
any film festival you have ever attended. We will not only
watch movies, but we will also make movies in front of the
crowds, and the kids will be able to make their own videos.
There will be live music, a basketball game, a children's
basketball camp, shows being taped, workshops, vendors, displays
and more. Plus the huge selection of original movie posters,
autographs, film cels, and other movie collectables from the
Ruby Brothers!
